If you are injured on the job, below is a general idea of the claims process.  This information is for general information and is not a complete description of workers' compensation laws.  This also should not be considered as legal advice.  If you have a specific questions regarding workers' compensation we encourage you to contact the Department of Labor and Industry.  

If you are injured on the job:

Once your employer is notified about an injury, they will complete a First Report of Injury (FROI)
Notify your employer right away
Inform the health care provider (HCP) that the injury occurred at work.  Be specific as to how the injury occurred. (Time, Date, location of injury and what injury you incurred.)
Get Report of Work Ability Form.  This form is completed by your doctor.  It is very important that your employer and insurer receive a copy of this on a timely basis.
Seek medical attention if needed
Return to work. 
Waiting period
Insurer files Notice of insurer's Primary Liability Determination (NOPLD) form
Claim denied
Claim accepted, may get (three possibilities):
monetary benefits
Rehabilitation benefits
Return to work.
